Lo1 BBFC rating of our film

Image
After looking at the BBFC rating guidelines. I believe that our product is an age rating of 15 and up. This is because of our excessive language use and showing off drug use. We have not however promoted any of these things as we have instead shown how these can effects people in a negative way.

LO4 Evaluating Feedback

Image
After finishing our film, we premiered the film in a screen test and sent the audience a Survey created using Surveymonkey.co.uk. The feedback that was given back to us was precise and informative, each question asked in the survey was made with the purpose of showing us how we can improve our product, if we were to re-shoot scenes again.  Q1. How was the acting? The strengths of the acting in our product, that was stated in the survey, proved to us that Ellis was able to convey an aggressive, complicated person. The chemistry between Ellis and Toby also elevated each scene as their deliver was able to convey their relationship without needing to directly tell the audience. This proved to us that our choice of casting was exceptional for the film. However personally I do believe that it isn't perfect, as there were many times where the actors broke character within a scene. To combat this when filming, we filmed multiple takes off shots and used the best take from each scene. Howev...

Lo3 Short film final version

Image
This is the final version of our product, including edits, special effects, and sound effects throughout the whole product. In this we all worked together to fit together each scene and implement other sounds and editing techniques to create a professional product. Our product is similar to other parody movies such as the Scary movie franchise, this is because we make fun of many different things featured in horror, thriller, and drama films.

Lo3 Short film offline edit

This was our original mind map. In this mind map we described our ideas for what would happen in the film and how the characters. We also wrote down the genre we would like to write in and how we would link to generic conventions of other films similarly to our film. Eventually we had to scrap some ideas for scenes, as we went to 3 different shops and each shop said that we would be unable to film inside so we had to change the scene and make our character get knocked out in a different way. This ended up changing the plot of the film completely as we then changed our character to just be a bad person who committed crimes instead of a person who had a mental illness of the six deadly sins. Although the character changed we wanted to keep the scenes as similar as we could, the first scene which was a robbing scene, we changed from a shop to a house and had the main character robbing a house instead and then instead of getting hit by a car we had a ball be thrown ...

Lo3 Upload of short film draft

Image
This is our first draft of our product. It isn't fully finished and doesn't include all of the special and audible effects that we will implement in future lessons. Originally, this version of the film was used to show how we edited each scene together and made seamless edits between takes.

Lo3 Special effects editing screenshots

Image
This is what the final video timeline looks like. we used effects such as dip to black and white as they offered seamless transitions into the next scene or shot. Furthermore,  We used instant cuts to black which were used to relieve tension and also for dramatic effect. This effect has the ability to build mystery and entertainment for the audience. Here we separated different frames and changed the colour of certain frames In order to present Ellis's character losing control of his emotions. We took this editing technique from generic conventions of other horror films such as Insidious, and The Nun. We did this in post as we did not have the ability to use LED lights on set. However this works just as well and Creates the same effect which is to notify the audience about how his character is becoming unhinged.  This is our examples of us using Premier pro to edit our audio alongside our footage, we used audio transition effects to make the cuts in audio seem seamless....

Lo3 Audio edit screen shots

Image
We used audio transition effects such as constant power and constant gain as a way to transition the sound and music we used in our film. This was used to make the transitions in audio more seamless and enjoyable for the audience. We believe that we have done a good job with transitioning audio and making it work with the scenes. The music and sounds we have chosen are used to link to the themes and conventions shown within the scenes. Things such as whispers and stab sound effects have been implemented to highlight how Ellis's character has become unhinged. Similarly, the stab sound effect and the sad piano music was used to add more dramatic effect to Toby's characters death. We though about Steve Niels (1980) genre theory about repetition and difference when editing to parody, and use similar sound design techniques than products similar to this one. The sad music was used as its similar to the conventions of other products such as Blue story, its used to add more dramatic e...
